Community Action
How to get involved in shaping East Village — planning, campaigns, and local democracy.
East Village is part of the London Borough of Newham. There are several ways to engage with decisions that affect the neighbourhood.
Planning applications
The Olympic Park and surrounding area is overseen by the London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC), which handles most major planning applications in the area.
- Planning applications are searchable at: planning.queenelizabetholympicpark.co.uk
- You can submit comments on applications within the consultation period
The wider Newham area uses Newham Council’s planning portal.
Residents’ association
East Village has a residents’ association that engages with GetLiving, the LLDC, and Newham Council on residents’ behalf. Contact details are available via the concierge.
Newham Council
- Report issues (roads, rubbish, anti-social behaviour): newham.gov.uk
- Council meetings: open to the public, dates on newham.gov.uk
- Your councillors: find yours at writetothem.com using your postcode
What issues are residents raising?
Current active issues include:
- E20 bus connectivity — lack of direct routes to certain destinations
- Security on Celebration Avenue — following a series of phone thefts
- Lighting in the park — in and around Wick Field at night
